their gonna know us by name
Dylan, mad at the world after his Cath.At 11:30pm, right when I was brushing my teeth for bed, a loud scream came out of the babies room. Of course it was Dylan. I gave a min to see if he would go back to sleep, but this scream was different, he really sounded like he was in pain.
I got him out of bed and changed his dirty bottom. I freaked out, something was not right with my little man's little man. It was swollen in big puffy circles and looked like it was cutting off circulation to the top of it. So there we go, off to the ER again. Remember the other day when it was the best service ever? Well apparently last night was payback. They were so busy, there were puking kids everywhere. I took Dylan past the waiting room to some chairs at the end of the registration booths. A former 24 wk preemie should not be sitting with all those puking kids. We waited for 2 1/2 hours, while my lil guy just cried in pain. By this time he was bleeding out the end of his penis, I was told that he wasn't screaming as loud as other kids so he was not a top priority.
We finally got into a room, then after 1 1/2 the Dr finally came in. As I was trying to explain things to her, as she was rushing to get out the door. You know I waited for her for hours, she could have listened to me for a full min. She then sent in someone to cath him for an UTI, again they failed to listen to me, he is on a very strong antibiotic right now for his ear infection, he's not going to have a UTI. Guess what his urine came back negative....Imagine that. So they decided they weren't sure what is was, and informed me they were going to discharge him. No way I wanted to see a urologist, but again I was told there was not one in the entire hospital....BS!!! I got an attending in there, where she finally took the time to check him out. She had no clue that he was already on antibiotics, no clue that he was a preemie, really didn't know any of the important details....because the first lady never listened or took down the info. Do you know he was never even given an ID band either...I'm glad he doesn't have an allergy to anything.
She then told me he has Paraphimosis. When I asked her what it was, she told me she printed it on the discharge papers and I could go home and google it. Oh Hell NO! So again I needed to make a fuss to figure out what was wrong with my baby.
I finally leave and pull into the driveway at 6am. I go in get a shower and wait til 8 to start making phone calls to get into the urologist office today. We get there, Dylan's penis is bleeding again. They said they don't know what it is, give him Motrin, and let it heal itself. If it would get any bigger or continue to block urination they would need to cut it open and drain it. OUCH. So for now he just has to grin and bear it. Poor guy he can't even get his legs together. He hasn't had a wet diaper since 11:30pm last night. But the urologist says he can go 14 hrs or more without going he'll be fine....I am beginning to wonder about these Dr's.
While they were there they did Dylan's ultrasound on his bladder and kidneys. Come to find out his left kidney is a lot smaller then it should be and does have fluid in it. So they think he has the same VU Reflux like Ava. So now he will need a VCUG done in the next few weeks.
So here I sit, just got back from tumbling with Delaney, getting ready to make dinner, and I haven't been to bed since Wednesday night. I am whooped. Tomorrow I am off!!! I am sleeping in, darn it.

all about delaney
Delaney loves school, it's all she ever talks about. She can write her full name, and her alphabet. She's doing pretty good on her numbers too. She loves to write. She loves trying to spell. Right now she can spell about 10 words, and can recognize them in books. I don't know if shes on track or behind. I seem to think she's fine for 4. We are working on learning to tie shoes right now. She can't wait for kindergarten. I think she is more than ready, the only thing I worry about is her not taking naps. She is a little bear without them. I don't know how she'll though a full day of school. Our school district only has full day kindergarten. School is still a bit away, maybe that will give her time to grow out of the naps.
She has a best friend named Mallory. It's so cute, they are so much alike. She has been going over to Mallory's house every couple weeks for a play date. She felt so comfortable over there, she decided to take off her pants and run around and play. She thought it was fine because she had tights on underneath.
Delaney thinks it's fun to run around the house in her underwear, or her bathing suit or just dressing up like a dork in layers of layers of clothes and playing.
I'm having a real hard time with her right now. She likes to change her clothes a minimum of 10 times a day. Every time she changes her clothes she's throwing the ones shes had on for 5 mins in the basement to be washed. I know she's just playing, but it's frustrating.
Delaney doesn't want to eat anymore either. Well she'll eat, but all she wants is junk food. She will tell us she's full, she'll put the rest of her food in the fridge, then ask for junk. I won't let her eat anything until she finishes her dinner. This has resulted in grilled chicken and potatoes for breakfast the other day!
All in all she is a great kid, and if that's all the problems shes giving me I should count myself lucky.
Delaney is still in dance class. She takes tap and ballet on Monday, and tumbling on Friday. They are starting to work on the recital routine. Man are her costumes ugly this year. When Dance is over for the summer, we're enrolling her in swim class at the Y. I think everyone should learn to swim. Especially her, it scares me that she is fearless around water. The only problem will be picking out a bathing suit. She want a "two half" Greg and I say no way in hell! It's hard to find little girl clothes that aren't trashy.
Here's Delaney showing off her tumbling skills. Love the cartwheels.
Even though she gives me a hard time, I wouldn't trade her for anything.
another night
*Note to our Neighbors*
I am so sorry, I can't get it to stop, but the van has an appointment today to get it checked out.
Delaney thinks it's hysterical. She said it's like the movie Cars and the van just needs some attention.
Maybe someday we'll sleep through the night.
Our TV is on the fritz too. It just keeps turning itself off. It will go off for a while then just come back on. I'm beginning to think our house may be haunted. I can just see a little dumpy old man ghost running around pushing panic buttons, flipping the TV off, pinching babies while their sleeping! I betcha he's the one who sneaks in the bathroom while I'm in the shower, and flushes the toilet. Damn ghosts!

day from hell
When Dylan got up this morning he seemed a bit out of it. Everytime he stood he fell. I was getting a little worried. So we went to the Dr's and this time I took all 4. SO that way he could check them all. Ava's ear infection is better, Ryan just started his antibiotic so his is still there. Mr Dylan has a major ear infection. The inside of his ear was as red as Elmo. Dylan got a script for an antibiotic too. Ava almost went to the ER tonight, she just started vomiting like crazy. I think she has so much mucus from her cold that it is gagging her. The Dr said there is nothing to do, but let it run it's course. That's fine, but how long is the course. This is getting old. I feel so bad for the kids, there's nothing I can do to make it better. Greg and I haven't slept in days. We are really at the end of our ropes. Hopefully tonight will be the night they give us a break and let us get some sleep.
Well their EI came today. They hit all their goals we set 6 months ago. That's Awesome!!! We set new ones like walking within the next 6 months for all 3...that's scary. All 3 developmentally came out between 9 and 12 months, give or take a few things. Which is excellent since they were born 4 months early.
OT, PT and a speech and language therapist will be coming to see Ava. She has a few things we gotta watch her for. I'll let you know more about that later. No need to worry about it right at the moment.
They were shocked at Ryan's development. They couldn't believe that he's pulling up on the furniture.
Dylan just flirted with the girls, like always. He showed off by waving and saying bye-bye. He's a ham.
After all that today, we had to argue with the insurance adjusters about our roof. It's such a mess. We have storm damage from all the ice and wind we had a few weeks ago. Now we have some shingles missing and a couple leaks. I hate insurance companies. Tomorrow it should be all settled...lets hope. I don't think I can handle anymore this week.

today
Ryan woke up at 3 am this morning. He was screaming, I just couldn't make him comfortable. At 6:30 I called the after hours number and told them I think somethings wrong with his stomach. SO it was off to the ER. I couldn't believe it, there was no one there. We walked right in and right back to a room, where we had one of the best nurses I think we've ever had. She was awesome. Come to find out she has 2 yr old twin boys. She was so sweet.
Ryan had to have a breathing treatment for his wheezing. They said he is on the verge of RSV. I was shocked, he can't get RSV. They sent him home with some antibiotics for his ear. It was a little red, looked like it was the start of an ear infection. I guess I was a bit off there was nothing wrong with his stomach. I still don't understand why he was baring down, who knows.
On my way home I received a text message from my Dad, who was watching the rest of the kids. It said Delaney has measles. I thought he was joking, then he said it looks like chicken pox. I was frantic. I got home and it was only food and marker on her face. Thank GOD!!! She did have 1 lil bump, I think it's a pimple. Just as long as it's nothing more.
I have to take Dylan to the Dr tomorrow for his snotty nose and he sounds a little croupy. Also the babies Intervention Specialist comes tomorrow morning. So I'll have to update you tomorrow on the babies progress.
By the way, I guess it works to threaten your children on your blog. Dylan finally slept through the night. So here goes....
Ok Note to all the children that live under this roof......
If you don't sleep through the night tonight, I may be tempted to put pack & plays in the basement and let you guys cry it out.
Also your Mother has only had about 7 to 10 hours of sleep in the last 3 days. She is very tired, and is on the edge of pulling all her hair out. So please find it in your lil hearts to be nice to her tonight and tomorrow. Thanks!!!
Let's all cross our fingers and hope that works!!!

hehe
take me away
Speaking of Mothers of Multiples....I am so sick of this Octuplet Mother. Would you like to know why? Because everywhere I go I hear..."aren't you glad you don't have 8?" "Just think you could have 8" "It could be worse you could have 8" Leave me alone! I don't have 8. I have 3. By no means should I be in the same category as her. And to be honest I am so sick of hearing about her.
This is what I think....
~I think she must be a super strong Mom, she carried those 8 babies for 30 weeks! I couldn't carry 3 for more than 24 weeks. So lets hear it for her super uterus!
~I think she may have some issues, but in reality everyone has issues. Maybe not as big as hers but so what?!
~It shouldn't be about her anymore. Look at those poor babies in the NICU, let us all just say a prayer that those babies come out of there safe and healthy. Personally I can't believe how well they are doing considering there was 8.
~When she was talking about not being able to reduce, I understood her point. I was told to reduce every visit. How could I play God and pick what baby I would get rid of. I know that God put each of those babies there for a reason. Who am I to pick 1 or more and get rid of them. And if I would have reduced, Ryan wouldn't be here, and if I would have reduced 2 Ava wouldn't be here either.
On one other note, did you see the boy that just became a father at 13. He said he thinks he'll be good at it?! Where the hell was his parents? That is completely ridiculous!

take that

She looked at Ava and said "Wow what a cute girl, she has a big head"
If she were a younger girl I may have not taken too much offense to it, but she was about 11 yrs old with a moustache and hairier arms than a man....
"Excuse me what did you say?" I asked.
Brat: "Wow she has a nice head, it's very oval-ly"
You know I keep thinking Ava needs a helmet, but our Dr assures us that it won't help with the toaster head she has. He says it's just something from her being premature and she will grow out of it. I'm so afraid that these comments will follow her. It just pisses me off that I can't fix it. The poor girl. To me she is beautiful, and I love her just the way she is, but I know kids are cruel and I hope she does out grow this soon. Until then there's always bangs.
